$1 Million Win for Seven-Year-Old Boy

We recently reported on a baby winning a million dollars in the UAE… well, it has happened again! This time a seven-year-old Grade 1 student called Kapilraj Kanakaraj took the million-dollar jackpot in the popular Millenium Millionaire raffle in the UAE. Kanakaraj lives in Ajman with his father, a businessman who originally comes from Tamil Nadu. Mr Kanakaraj has lived in the Emirates for 27 years, supplying furniture to local schools.
Kapilraj won the jackpot in draw 327 on Tuesday 17th March with ticket number 4324 that was bought for him by his father, who was travelling to Chennai on a business trip, when he felt lucky enough to buy a raffle ticket form Dubai International Airport.
Mr Kanakaraj explained how he did not want to travel at first but did not have much choice in the matter. Then he felt lucky at the airport and made his decision. “This is the first time I have ever bought a raffle ticket in my life and I cannot believe my luck that I have won, I was reluctant to travel at first, but at the last minute I decided to buy the ticket,” he said.
“Words aren't enough to express how I feel today. My family and I are so thankful for this wonderful blessing. Part of the prize money will definitely go to our furniture shop business and for my son's future,” said Mr Kanakaraj of his child’s win.
It wasn’t just Kapilraj who had good fortune on Tuesday, as another Tamil Nadu resident won a Mercedes Benz S560 (Diamond White) in Series 1749 with winning ticket number 1106. 57-year-old Devaraj Subramaniam is an integration manager at General Electric who has lived in Dubai for 12 years.
Global Lotteries
